I’ve watched a ton of YouTube videos while learning CW.  Most every night, I fire up my Kindle or phone and copy along to someone else’s POTA activation.  There’s several CW operators filming and posting their POTA activations to YouTube for the single purpose of helping new ops or seasoned ops hoping to break into the game.

The point is, I really jumped on these videos and they helped me more than I can describe.  Listening and watching burned the structure of the QSO into my brain in a way that allowed me the head space to process what I was hearing.  Eventually, everything became so familiar I found the confidence to set up at Ike State Park and call CQ POTA.

I’ve entered the fray.  I’m filming some CW park activations, am posting them to YouTube at DitWit Portable Radio – YouTube, and I’m asking for your help getting them out to people who might benefit or enjoy them.

Some CW videos appeal to me and some don’t.  I can watch some for hours while others just don’t do anything for me.  They don’t “click” with me. I don’t know what it is that locks me in but suspect it’s different for everyone.

Whatever it is, I’m truly thankful for the time these guys dedicated to my learning.  And I now know firsthand it takes time – a lot of time!  I’m compelled to pay this back to the universe and I’m asking for your help. 

Please click over to my YouTube channel, see what you think, and if you’re not completely repulsed, subscribe to the channel and share some videos with someone you think will benefit. Maybe someone learning CW, maybe someone learning POTA activations.

Note:  I’m not trying to generate revenue.  That’s beyond what our modest community can provide.   Let’s face it, compared to the world, we share a very niche interest in Ham Radio.  POTA narrows it a bit more, and CW ops for POTA presents an even smaller population of an already narrow interest group.  We might associate the population of CW Park Activators with the number of guys collecting vintage left-handed catcher’s mits. Cialis isn’t interested in paying us.

I’d like to get my videos out to anyone who will benefit – to anyone – on the chance MY style might keep their attention long enough to help them along. Maybe they’ll click with someone.

So give them a look, subscribe to help them show up in searches, and share them. And for heaven’s sake, tell me if they suck and what I can do better.
